We go to Bournemouth Beach most summers from Winchester. About 50 mins via A31. Get there before 10am in July/August or you will struggle for parking and space on the beach.

Sandbanks is worth the extra few miles from Salisbury. The water at Sandbanks is noticeably clearer than central Bournemouth. Get the chain ferry if possible, great experience.

Drove down from Salisbury on a Sunday morning — left at 8am and parking was still fine. Beach was beautiful, water was clean. Kids loved the rock pools at the eastern end. Will definitely be back.

Great day out. About 45 mins from Andover on a quiet Tuesday. Bring your own food — the café gets very busy. Dogs were fine all along the beach. Parking was £8 all day which is reasonable.
